For those unfamiliar with photo-etch, these sets consist of many parts, finely etched out of a brass or stainless steel sheet, which can be added to plastic kits to enhance or replace kit parts. Fittings such as rails, radar aerials, aircraft catapults and lattice girder work can now look in-scale, so your model looks like the real thing in miniature instead of a plastic toy.
